چکیده
A small to moderate sized modern computer system employs advanced features such as fault-tolerance (see Fault-tolerant systems), resource sharing and contention, concurrency and synchronization, timeliness (see Real-time systems), and degradable performance. When such a computer system is being designed and implemented, it becomes essential to answer “what-if” questions and carry out trade-off studies to choose between a set of contending design alternatives. The broad classes of measures that need to be evaluated are:

Software Reliability Modeling with Imperfect Repair Actions
This paper introduces a non-homogeneous Markov model that allows for the possibility of a nite time to repair a fault and for imperfections in the repair process. The proposed scheme provides the basis for decision making both during the testing and the operational phases of the software product. Illustrations of the proposed model are provided using actual eld data.
متن کاملUnification of finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process models through test coverage
A number of analytical software reliability models have been proposed for estimating the reliability growth of a software product. In this paper we present an Enhanced nonhomogeneous Poisson process (ENHPP) model and show that previously reported Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP) based models, with bounded mean value functions, are special cases of the ENHPP model. The ENHPP model differs ...
متن کاملImportant Milestones in Software Reliability Modeling
A number of software reliability models have been proposed for assessing the reliability of a software system. In this paper, we discuss the time-domain and data-domain approaches to software reliability modeling, and classify the previously reported models into these two classes based on their underlying assumptions. The data-domain models are further classiied into fault-seeding and input dom...
متن کاملModel Validation Using Simulated Data
Effective and accurate reliability modeling requires the collection of comprehensive, homogeneous, and consistent data sets. Failure data required for software reliability modeling is difficult to collect, and even the available data tends to be noisy, distorted and unpredictable. Also, the complexity of the real world data might obscure the properties of the reliability models which are based ...
متن کاملAdvanced Program Complexity Metrics and Measurement
The complexity metrics has an important role in assessing the quality of source code. Obtainable complexity metrics is failed to accumulate precise system failure information. In this work proposes adequate complexity metrics for structural measure which collect the exact system information that cause the system failure in source code. Then, by censure McCabe’s cyclomatic number and the framewo...
